Attorney General John Jeremie Attorney General John Jeremie today addressed the house on matters affecting the commission of enquiry into the construction sector.

Mr. Jeremie stated that over the past weeks, there has been great concern in the national community that in circumstances still unknown to the government, the appointment of the commission of enquiry into the construction sector had not been published in the gazette. He said that it was only days prior to the final set of hearings that this was discovered.

The Attorney General pledged government’s commitment to take all legitimate steps to regularize the situation, so that the commission could complete their assigned tasks on behalf of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. He went on to outline the steps government would be taking to guarantee the validity of the bill.

The attorney general made his announcement in the Lower house, moments before the opposition leader Basdeo Panday delivered his response to the 2009/2010 budget.
