More Employee-employer commitment called for as OSHA Safety Week starts

Deputy Chairman of the OSH Authority Ryan RamjitThe Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Safety and Health Authority’s National Safety Week was launched on Tuesday and the 2010 Awards were held.

Deputy Chairman of the OSH Authority Ryan Ramjit noted that creating a safety culture takes time. He said as a result starting this year the OSH Authority will embark on an aggressive and intense series of sensitization programs aimed at creating a national safety culture. He further stressed that leaders must be held accountable for poor safety performance in the workplace.

Meanwhile speaking on behalf of PCS Nitrogen one of the sponsors of this year’s Safety Week, Dhana Maharaj stated that PCs’s Nitrogens support of National Safety Week represents an extension of their own safety ethic and value for safety in the workplace. She further told all present that they must take ownership for safety in the workplace and see it as their responsibility.
