Carnival ExtravaganzaIt was pure excitement as it was the children’s turn to join in the Carnival extravaganza at the Scarborough Esplanade. Damian Whiskey also known as son of doom, darkness and death, midnight robber explained what the customary midnight robber’s speech entails. He noted that he has been a mid-night robber for the past 21 years.

Mr. Whiskey said that his profession is passed on from generations and was a way of getting back to the slave masters and at a wicked cruel world. After his debut, he challenged some children to give their own robber’s speech. Tyrell Bruce who was dubbed the Scarborough Terror did his best at frightening those present.

Meanwhile, teacher of traditional mas from Trinidad Vernon Mohammed gave the children some history of the fancy Indian and that much of their presence was owed to infamous Geronimo.

The Indians were well adorned in blood bright colors with gold feathers and gave various chants that wowed the audience Even the Dame Lorraines were present to add their spice to the mix. They played shy to con men out of their money. And what would carnival be without blue devils, jab jab and the traditional and fancy sailors?

The blue devils did their best by fire blowing and trying to scare the audience to give them money, while the jab jab pranced around to the pulsating sounds of stick and tin pan.
