The launch was held at the Mt. Irvine Bay Hotel Conference room with the staff of the Ministry of Planning Housing and the Environment, the Central Statistical Offices of Trinidad and Tobago and other stakeholders. Director of Statistics and Census Officer, Mr. Dave Clement explained some of the other aspects of the census, noting that the questionnaire comprises 61 questions in 13 sections including characteristics of all persons, migration, disability, marital status and housing.
Mr. Clement addressed one of the issues that may come up with regard to the census, that being confidentiality. He assured that the information is highly confidential. Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Planning, Housing and the Environment Senator Dr, The Honorable Emily Dick – Forde was Deputy Permanent Secretary Julianna Boodram. Ms. Boodram revealed that this 2010 census was almost three years in planning and reiterated the importance of each individual’s support of the census. A census is conducted every ten years, the last one being May 2000.
The enumerators would be equipped with identifiable ID Badges and would be coming to your door for information. The CSO’s office is requesting that all persons participate and cooperate with the enumerators to ensure that accurate information is received.
